Sorta, it was Post-Pandoran Depression but for different reasons:
Ya know, the original avatar script was written before movies like pocahauntis was even out? It was supposed to be a5 year project, to be released in 1999. But Cameron stopped the production, because technology had to catch up.
IDC if Ferngully+Pocahontas=Avatar (haven't seen Ferngully so I don't know what is it

There was f***ing epic battles on a glowy planet between huge blue people on birds and a testosterone filled old guy with sh*t loads of coffee and ammo.
What's not to like?

True dat. The original script was much better IMHO.
- Grace survived ;_;
- There was no Unobtainium under hometree, they just wanted to use the Na'vi as slaves
- There was this Avatar Controller who killed himself while in his Avatar body because his Na'vi gf was killed by the mercs, and his real brain died
- They told us more about Grace's school: When the RDA started the mining operations, some of the teenagers got pissed off and destroyed a dozer. The mercs arrived, a few Na'vi kids died, Grace was wounded and Neytiri's sister died in front of her eyes ;_;
- Grace was all fat and ugly, but her avatar was visually delicious (Her first line: "I'm a babe" or something)

I'm glad they got Sigourney Weaver to play Grace. She's a fantastic Sci-Fi actress.
Same. Plus the torrented version on my iPod...;DI'ma go see it in the cinema again soon... ^_^

some of those features (the school incident/neytiri's sister) were put into the second movie, but ended up being deleted. However, rumor has it some of those deleted scenes will be added into the DVD.
